How we help organisations to manage culture change
We adopt with clients a collaborative, hands-on approach to assessing organisational culture. Our first step is normally to help a client understand the culture in the organisation “as is”. Using a range of tools and interventions we can analyse existing data that may give clues as to how people feel about their workplace.
Crucially, we will drill down into any hard data that might show where poor culture is creating performance issues within a business, such as impeding innovation or growth, or within a healthcare organisation, such as affecting patient safety.
Alongside this analysis we encourage wide and deep engagement with staff in the organisation to help people express their views of the leadership they experience, the systems and processes they work in, and any barriers they feel that prevent improvements to achieving the organisation’s long term goals.
These “soft data” help to reveal the reality of culture in the workplace, and clients are often surprised by what this feedback tells them about their staff, and how they do their jobs.
We work collaboratively with our clients to provide preventative and reparative solutions, achieve long-term value and embed measurable organisational change.
Why is Culture Change Required?
Employee wellbeing
Issues such as bullying and harassment, discrimination and an absence of Just Culture lead to poor collaboration and performance.
Leadership
Where leadership is unable to adhere to company visions and values, employees become disengaged.
Brand perception
Socially irresponsible practices and poorly treated employees can quickly affect public perception and damage company reputation.
Safety
A toxic culture can affect mental wellbeing, directly impacting safety and increasing the chances of an incident occurring.
Our Previous Work
Our previous work as culture change consultants includes supporting a wide range of healthcare organisations, charities and businesses.
Our clients include CEOs and executive directors from regulatory bodies, NHS organisations, the independent healthcare sector, commercial companies, central government and charities.
Our systematic process involves extensive analysis to determine what’s working and what’s not, and then suggest specific, actionable improvements.
If, like other organisations we have worked with, you have concerns such as the culture of your organisation affecting collaborative working or ensuring public confidence in a service, we can help.

The power of cultural change
For businesses operating in dynamic industries regularly facing change or new challenges, simply adapting policies and systems may not be sufficient to perform highly and remain competitive.
Culture change has the power to alter the structure of an organisation from the ground up, improving employee wellbeing, leadership, operations and public perception. Companies with a positive culture perform better, are able to attract and retain more talent, achieve higher customer satisfaction scores, and find it easier to build a strong brand.

Case Study
We were commissioned to support an independent investigation into the culture and practices of Yarl’s Wood Immigration Removal Centre. Following a series of allegations, concerns and intense external criticism, the organisation wanted an objective viewpoint of whether they were doing a good job in difficult circumstances, or whether there were broader problems which needed resolving.
The investigation team visited Yarl’s Wood 23 times during both planned and unannounced visits where 146 people were interviewed from residents, front-line staff and senior managers, to members of the local community and the media.
We identified specific issues which needed improvement ranging from how the physical environment was used, to safeguarding arrangements, policies in place to raise concerns, staff development and more.
The organisation committed to to respond to all 35 of the report’s recommendations, making significant changes and improvements which the client viewed as significantly improving the operations of Yarl’s Wood.
