Kate Lampard is the chair of GambleAware, the lead non-executive of the Department of Health and Social Care, a trustee of the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and the Royal Horticultural Society and an established Verita associate. She is a former practising barrister. Kate is experienced in a wide range of sectors having also been chair of Kent and Medway and Southeast Strategic Health Authorities, vice chair of the Financial Ombudsman Service, and chair of the Independent Advisory Panel on Deaths in Custody.
Her high-profile projects include leading the NHS investigations into Jimmy Savile by quality assuring 34 independent investigations and producing an oversight report for the secretary of state for health. Alongside Verita’s managing director, Kate undertook a a review for Serco plc into the culture and treatment of detainees at Yarl’s Wood Immigration Removal Centre. They were subsequently commissioned by G4S plc to review the culture and treatment of detainees at Brook House Immigration Removal Centre. Recently, Kate has been leading a review, commissioned by the Home Secretary, of the Home Office’s borders, immigration and citizenship system.
Kate’s work with Verita covers governance and risk management arrangements, organisationand system management, board and director development, investigations into organisational culture, management and service delivery.
