About Us

Who we are

Verita is an independent management consultancy comprised of a small core team and an extensive network of associates, including senior associates, QCs and lawyers. All our work is aimed at helping organisations and the people they employ to perform more effectively in the workplace. This may be by providing insight into an adverse event, helping improve important organisational systems or equipping a team with knowledge and skills.

We were founded nearly 20 years ago by Ed Marsden and colleagues in response to a growing need in organisations for independent, expert and high-quality investigative capabilities. Our first piece of work for the then CEO of the NHS was into waiting list and leadership difficulties at Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust (RUHB). The NHS published our report about RUHB.

The name ‘Verita’ – the Italian word for truth – reflects our ambition to get to the facts and provide an honest, impartial assessment for our clients.

In 2014, Verita became the first corporate sponsor of The Foundling Museum in Bloomsbury. The museum tells the history of the Foundling Hospital, the UK’s first charity and first public art gallery. The museum’s ambition and creativity, despite its small size and its past as a caring institution for abandoned babies, made it a great ‘fit’ for Verita. We have sponsored annual exhibitions at the museum, used the venue for events and hospitality and even re-investigated an 18th century milk fraud at the hospital.

What we do

We conduct a wide range of serious incident investigations – from concerns about bullying and harassment to failures of governance. We provide consultancy support and help to organisations. We deal with complex complaints on behalf of public and private bodies. We offer training on all aspects of investigations. We have a technology arm to Verita called Eva Applications. Eva is a collaboration with Microsoft and aims to help healthcare organisations reduce avoidable harm to patients. The first application helps doctors and nurses investigate incidents of avoidable harm to patients.
