Improving psychological support for people with cancer
Kent and Medway Cancer Network commissioned Verita to benchmark the quality of psychological support provided to its cancer patients with the best practice recommendations issued by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence. To guarantee that the picture of day-to-day service provision was as accurate as possible the review took the form of extensive interviews with professionals, staff and patients - a hands-on approach requiring sensitivity and tact. The nurse director at Kent and Medway Cancer Network has praised Verita's thoroughness: "This was a very comprehensive piece of work which will help to improve the support we give to cancer patients in the future".
