Criminal Record Bureau checks at a foundation trust
Verita was commissioned by a foundation trust to carry out an independent review into Criminal Record Bureau checks when it found that nearly 600 medical and non-medical staff - including those working with children - had been allowed to start work without clearance. Verita started work just two days after its first meeting with the trust, and completed the review to a very tight schedule. The review concluded that poor systems and processes, coupled with inadequate monitoring, had led to the failure, and made a number of recommendations to ensure that the trust complied with national and local policy.
