Verita has launched a new service to support community safety partnerships commission and undertake statutory domestic homicide reviews (DHRs).

Domestic homicide

Statutory domestic homicide reviews came into force in April 2011 with the aim of helping agencies learn lessons and improve policies and practice. Responsibility for establishing a review rests with the local community safety partnership.

Ed Marsden explains: "Verita specialises in conducting such reviews and understands the context in which many of the agencies involved in the process operate. We use our experience to help partnerships appoint a chair, manage and coordinate the review process and produce an overview report. Alternatively we can conduct the review on their behalf."

The chair of the review should be independent and not directly associated with any of the agencies involved.
