Jane Held

Jane has 30 years' experience of working in social services at senior level, most recently as the director of social services for the London Borough of Camden. Her work encompasses a range of projects relating to children's policy where she has built a national profile for her work in safeguarding practice, strategy and policy. Nationally she has worked for a range of public sector bodies including the Local Government Association, the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), the Improvement and Development Agency and Commission for Social Care Inspection (now the Care Quality Commission). Jane is the operation lead for the Narrowing the Gap Programme, a DCSF-sponsored initiative designed to narrow the gap between vulnerable children and their peers. She is also on the board of the Children's Workforce Development Council and incoming vice chair of the National Children's Bureau. Jane is currently chair of a serious case review panel for a local safeguarding children board.
