Hilary is currently a member of the board of trustees for the UK charity Action against Medical Accidents having previously adopted this role for two other UK charities. She is a Visiting Professor at Middlesex University Business School and has worked with Verita since 2008
Hilary has more than 30 years’ experience of working in health and other public services at local, regional and national levels. Hilary followed several years as an NHS chief executive with an appointment as the Deputy Health Service Ombudsman (1999-2002) and then at the Department of Health where she worked on the programme to reform the complaints and clinical negligence procedures. She is a former member of the Court of Governors for the University of Westminster.
Hilary works with organisations who want to improve the way they respond when things go wrong. She is a trained mediator and conciliator and supports Verita’s independent complaints management service.
