Des Hudson is the former chief executive of the Law Society of England and Wales, having held the post from 2006 to autumn 2014.
Des is a qualified solicitor graduated in law from the University of Leeds. He worked in private practice as a solicitor until 1987 when he moved into the commercial sector as an in-house lawyer.
Prior to retirement from the Law Society, Des held a number of NED and charitable roles including Queens Counsel Appointments Ltd, the National Pro Bono Centre, Legal Advisory Board of Wesleyan Assurance and a Housing Association
Since 2014 Des has taken up a number of non-executive positions including chair of the Taxation Disciplinary Board, Chair of Regulation for the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries and Chair of Legal Practice Technology – a technology start up building a web-based portal for the transfer of residential property in England & Wales.
