Candy Morris has an NHS career spanning 36 years, with over 19 years as a chief executive. She has top-level experience of designing, developing and leading healthcare organisations and wider health systems to improve quality and financial sustainability, drawing on the talents of staff and the engagement of patients, politicians and the wider public and independent sector bodies. She has strategic and operational skills in people and organisational development, large scale transformation, effective governance, risk management, developing strategy, constructive challenge, strategic influencing and independence of thought. Candy has also chaired the National Institute for Health Research Advisory Board, been the senior responsible owner for informatics programmes, and steered the establishment from April 2013 of the ‘new’ Health and Social Care Information Centre as interim chair.
